    Adam Lee, Laith McGregor, and Nell are among a group of artists presenting works in Sirens (I Heard Voices in the Night) at Gertrude Glasshouse in collaboration with singer/songwriter Ben Abraham this month. Each artist has created a new work for this project as a means of visually articulating and responding to a specific song from Abraham’s recent album Sirens.

    Opening on 13 August, the exhibition runs until 3 September.

    James Deutsher has been curated into the 2016 TarraWarra Biennial: Endless Circulation, where he will be presenting works in Christopher L.G. Hill’s 5th Artist-Facilitated Biennial.
    The TarraWarra Biennial was inaugurated in 2006 as a platform for identifying new trends in contemporary Australian art through an experimental curatorial platform. For this edition TarraWarra Director, Victoria Lynn, is working with Helen Hughes and the Melbourne based Discipline journal to create an exhibition that will consider the structural principles of the edition, circulation, dispersion and continuity.
    Opening on 19 August, the Biennial runs until 6 November.

    Daniel Boyd, Moya McKenna and Tim McMonagle are included in the first chapter of Painting. More Painting at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, with artists Jonny Niesche, Tom Polo and Gareth Sansom exhibiting in its second chapter. Reflecting the resurgent activity and critical agency of painting over the past decade, Painting. More Painting provides an overview of contemporary Australian painting in a context in which diverse conceptual, polemic and stylistic connections and debates can be drawn between individual approaches across generations.
    Chapter One will open on 30 July and run until 28 August, with Chapter Two open from 2 September until 25 September.

    Jon Cattapan has been awarded the 2016 Rockhampton Art Gallery’s $50,000 Gold Award, for his 2015 work Raft City No. 4 (surveillance version). The Gold Award honours the memory of Moya Gold, philanthropist and educator, who inspired and provided for this prize directly through a substantial bequest for the acquisition of Australian paintings.

    Patrick Pound will be presenting a group of his "collections" in Documentary Intersect at The Adam Art Gallery in Wellington this month. Coinciding with an exhibition of works by the pivotal photographer Walker Evans, whose practice has greatly influenced both Pound's writing and art practices. Pounds installation will be comprised of found images, taking his cue from Evans’s practice of working with readymade printed matter which he published in magazines such as Fortune and Architectural Forum.
    Opening on 29 July, the exhibition runs until 18 September

    The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes hosted by the Art Gallery of New South Wales is an annual exhibition with each prize looking a differing style of traditional painting. The Archibald Prize, first awarded in 1921, being awarded to the best portrait painting; The Wynne Prize is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery, or figure sculpture, while the Sulman Prize is given to the best subject painting, genre painting or mural project in oil, acrylic, watercolour or mixed media. Each year, the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW judge the Archibald and Wynne, and invite an artist to judge the Sulman, for 2016 the judge is artist Judy Watson.

    Zac Langdon-Pole is currently exhibiting work in the 2016 Fellbach Triennial of Small Sculpture titled FOOD – Ecologies of the Everyday in Fellbach Germany. Curated by Susanne Gaensheimer, Director of the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main, FOOD – Ecologies of the Everyday includes more than 40 international artists whose works reflect on the subject of food and the context of it’s production and consumption as paradigmatic, universal examples of social, political, ecological and economic interrelations. 

    The Triennial borrows its title from the still relevant project FOOD run by Gordon Matta-Clark together with fellow artists Carol Goodden, Tina Girouard, Suzanne Harris and Rachel Lew in Lower Manhattan in 1971-1974. The conceptual interest lies on the restaurant as a microsystem mirroring complex broader cultural, social and societal interlacings and cycles by the means of food, eating and nutrition.
    The Triennial will run until 2 October 2016 at the Alte Kelter Fellbach, Untertürkheimer Strasse 33, Germany.

    Ronnie van Hout's five-meter tall sculptural work Quasi has been installed atop the Christchurch Art Gallery. The work comes from a scanning of van Hout's body parts, combining them into a single figure that is surreal, uncanny and humorous. The sculpute refers to the fact that it is a quasi object, neither a full fledged person, nor just a part of a person, and references the notion of "the artist hand" whilst also touching on the fictional Parisian hunchback Quasimodo.

    Quasi will be on display until December 2017
