Inspired by repetition and movement found within musical scores, André Piguet's Selected Works on Paper presents a suite of works that line the gallery walls exploring architectural fantasies, imagined spaces, repeated symbols and abstracted rhythmic gestures. Interdisciplinary in his approach, Piguet’s conceptually-driven and process-based practice desires a generative experimentation through material assemblage and installation.
Piguet’s installation of 37 framed works, spanning from 2010-2021, invite explorations of accumulation, duplication and alteration. Drawn marks and trails entwine themselves alongside painted abstract gestures to form an array of harmonised and expansive picture planes. As each chordal structure informs the next within a musical melody, Piguet’s works similarly connect to its neighbouring placement in a lively optical rhythm.
